All-Star Recap 2032

Yet another fantastic All-Star Showdown in the books. This year,  Jasper Garvey and the American League held off a late NL push, lead by Seoul Red Devils' catcher Joel Levitt, to score a nail biting 4-3 victory. Washington's Miguel Velarde made the start for Mets' GM the_goat and his NL squad, while rxk192, the GM of the defending World Champion Blue Jays, handed the start to Los Angeles Angels ace Jasper Garvey. Both pitchers started out strong, with the only baserunner through two innings being a walk taken by Angels outfielder Yadir Guillerma in the 1st Inning. It was when the starters departed that things began to unravel. It was the_goat's own starter, veteran Aaron Bartley, who would be shelled in the 3rd Inning. Rangers first baseman Leobardo Lopez got things started with a sizzling single into right field. Milwaukee's crafty veteran centerfielder, Anderson Silva, returned to the All-Star game for the first time in almost a decade with a bang, following up Lopez' single with one of his own. The enigmatic former Rookie of the Year, Detroit oufielder Leo Diego Villa, then smashed a triple down the left field line, scoring both Lopez and Silva, and giving the AL an early 2-0 lead. Hoping to preserve at least some of his pitcher's confidence, the_goat immediately yanked Bartley from the game without recording a single out. Giant's closer Donny Frost then entered the game much earlier than he was used to, and it showed. Baltimore third baseman Bobby Bronze knocked a little bloop single into right, deep enough to score the speedy Diego Villa from third, and increasing the American League's lead to 3-0. Frost settled down and struck out Guillerma and a pair of Toronto Blue Jays (Zeke Devoss and Robert Kelley) to end the inning, but the damage was done. Tokyo catcher Oscar Porter did score in the bottom half of the 3rd on a Joshua Shriebman single off of Toronto's Christopher Kent, but the AL wasn't finished. Lopez scored on an Anderson Silva double the next inning, and the score stayed at 4-1 until the 7th. The 7th Inning stretch woke up the sleeping NL offense. Cardinals' second baseman Dorian Grey reached on a leadoff error by his AL counterpart, the Yankees' Paul Sporini. The Dodgers' James Dean stepped to the plate as a pinch hitter, and just beat out a double play ball at first. Joel Levitt then stepped to the plate, and spanked a Xin Su fastball into the left field seats to close the deficit to 4-3. Rob McMonigal (Boston), Antonio Barbosa (Seattle), Leo Montes (Baltimore), and Kenneth Claymore (Toronto), shut down the National League to send the American League to victory. Who would have thought that Leo Diego Villa not only would win the AL Rookie of the Year Award, but also the All-Star Game MVP in his first All-Star appearance? Nobody. Shocker.
