Seattle Says Goodbye

As another successful season for the Seattle Cascades comes to a close, the team is forced to say a tearful goodbye to the two longest tenured players on the team. Reliever Stefan Beito and Centerfielder Zomiro Puig will hit free agency for the first time in their careers, in all likelihood leaving Seattle for the first time in their careers. Beito, 30, was taken with the 21st Overall Pick in 2027 by the Cascades, and has been a big game anchor in the bullpen throughout his career. The veteran righty is a 3 time All-Star, and brought home the 2030 Reliever of the Year Award. In his 8 seasons in Seattle, he has a career ERA of 3.31, and will likely get his 100th career win in a different uniform, as he is only 6 wins away from the prestigious milestone. His best season came last year, when he posted a career high 22 wins. This will be the second year in a row that Seattle will lose a top reliever, as long tenured righty Xin Su left via free agency last offseason, choosing to join the upstart Atlanta Braves in route to their improbable playoff appearance. The bullpen responsibilities will now fall to highly touted lefty prospects Hugh Burton and Ronald Jennings as the new era of Seattle relievers will begin next season.

Puig, 31, has struggled to live up to his potential in his 9 season career. GM Sfascetta made him the 6th Overall Pick in 2026, the very first draft pick made by sfascetta in the world of Visionary MLB, and took him with him to Seattle the following offseason. Despite his struggles throughout his career, Puig is a 2 time All-Star, and has begun to finally realize his potential in the last few years. He has a .266 career batting average, with 285 career home runs, and is only 33 RBIs away from reaching 1000. Puig received a tearful bearhug from GM sfascetta following the team's 2nd Round playoff exit, as the two realize that their friendship extends beyond the game of baseball. The captain will truly be missed in Cascades green and gold. The centerfield duties fall to 2034 1st Round Draft Pick Lance Diego Villa, who had a lot of difficulty integrating himself into the lineup this season, only appearing in 93 games after suffering a broken arm and clavicle at the end of Spring Training. Diego Villa only hit .161 with 7 doubles, 2 triples, and a measly 19 RBIs in his appearances, and mustered only 10 steals on 14 attempts. Seattle will likely give him every opportunity to succeed with Puig gone, and they can only hope that a year of maturity will allow him to run with it.
