New Name, New Logo, Same Offseasons Start in Seattle

Well, it is good to know that somethings will stay the same for Cascades fans. The team announced earlier today that they have signed outfielder Vincent Pastore, first baseman Luka Polanzki, and starter Gilberto Heredia to identical 5 year, $35 contract extensions. This continues a trend for the team to draft, develop, and maintain numerous home grown talents long term. Pastore, 25, showed tremendous improvement in his second professional season, and hit .225, with 17 doubles, 22 home runs, and 70 RBIs in 151 games. The most improvement shown was in his power numbers, as he almost doubled his rookie home run total, and contributed 17 more RBIs in 3 fewer games. Heredia, 24, didn't see his stat line change a whole lot in his second season, but the young southpaw has not been expected to be in a shut down role so far in his career. He suffered from a lack of offense in his starts this season, which resulted in a horrific 2-17 record. In fact, he did not get his first win of the season until his 21st start, a 10-1 thrashing of the Brooklyn Americans. He did, however, show improved proficiency with every start, finishing the year with an improved 5.27 ERA, and a higher strikeout percentage for the year. He also proved to be dominant against left handers, a skill that could prove extremely useful in the future against left-handed laden powerhouses such as Toronto. Pastore and Heredia were the 3rd and 4th Overall selections respectively in the 2028 Draft by Seattle. Polanzki, 23, is a former second rounder, who spent the entire season with AAA Tacoma after two seasons of bench duty. His stat line in 35 career games is not impressive: 15 hits, 2 doubles, 1 home run, and 8 RBIs, but the team has been extremely impressed with the young prospect's development, and he is expected to be an important bench contributor this year. It is also important to note that he has shown tremendous proficiency in the field, having committed only 1 error so far in his career. Who knows what else is in store for the team as we hit the turn of the decade, but one thing is for sure: there will be a lot of entertainment!
