Report: Mariners Shopping Baldwin, Patterson, Polinia in hopes of furthering youth movement

Apparently, Eugene Patterson DID NOT win the First Baseman competition in Seattle when Chris McGuinness was moved last week to Miami. According to reports by ESPN's Buster Olney, the Mariners are participitating in "in depth discussions" with several teams about the availability of Patterson, 26, who has 13 HR and 47 RBIs in 92 games this season. Seattle is also reportedly interested in moving starter Tommy Baldwin (2-4, 7.36 ERA in 7 starts) and SS Willy Polinia (.213, 11 HR, 32 RBI) to help stack up on draft picks for this season's Entry Draft.
