Report: Mariners Extend 3, Look getting close on a draft-day decision

According to multiple reports, the Seattle Mariners have wasted no time signing their core to contract extensions. ESPN's Buster Olney reports that ace Rafael Pinéda has agreed to a 4 year, $54 million contract extension, keeping him under team control until the end of the 2032 season. Pinéda was 10-17, with a 4.33 ERA this season. Olney also reports that reliever Xin Su and centerfielder Zomiro Puig have agreed to identical 5 year, $35 million extensions. Su, a former Kansas City Royals' 2nd Round Draft Pick, was 5-6, with a 3.29 ERA and 1 save in 71 appearances this season. Puig, the 6th Overall selection in the 2026 Draft by Kansas City, hit .224, with 19 Home Runs and 60 RBIs this season, but suffered through injury troubles towards the season's close. All three players were part of the GM swap compensation from Kansas City to Seattle when the Royals were relocated to Shanghai last season.
